Tasty Tuesday ~ Chili
Its finally Fall here in Michigan.... so a big pot of chili is on the menu for today!!
1 - 1 1/2 pounds of lean ground beef
1 c chopped onion
1 c chopped celery
1 c red bell pepper (I used half a red, orange and yellow)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 -1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
2 TBSP Worcestershire sauce
2 TBSP sugar
1 tsp oregano
1 TBSP beef soup base
1 1/2 - 2 TBSP chili powder
3/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
3 (15 oz) cans diced tomatoes
1 (15 oz) can kidney beans
1 (15 oz) can chili beans in sauce
1 1/2 c water
In a large pot over medium-high heat, brown ground beef.
Stir in the onions, pepper and celery, cook until tender.
Stir in the garlic, cook one minute.
Add in the seasonings: chili powder, cumin, oregano, sugar, salt, pepper and cayenne pepper.
Stir in the tomatoes. Worcestershire sauce, beef base and water.
Let simmer about 1 1/2 hours.
Add kidney beans and the chili beans, heat for about 30 minutes.
